Descubre Video Program

Three separate video programs provide linguistic and cultural input:
  • The Fotonovela Video

Closely and distinctively integrated with the textbook in each lesson's Fotonovela and Estructura sections, these specially shot video segments provided approximately five minutes of footage for each of the textbook's nine lessons. They present the adventures of four college students who are studying at the Universidad de San Francisco in Quito, Ecuador. They each decide to spend their vacation break on a bus tour of the Ecuadorian countryside with the ultimate goal of hiking up a volcano. The video, shot in various locations in Ecuador, tells their story and the story of Don Francisco, the tour bus driver who accompanies them.

Each video module depicts the characters interacting within the context of the corresponding lesson's theme, using the vocabulary and grammar taught in that lesson of the textbook. As the video progresses, the live segments carefully combine new vocabulary and grammar with previously taught language.

  • Flash cultura

The thematically based Flash cultura program expands on the content presented in the new Cultura section of the textbook using a newscast format.

  • The Panorama cultural Video

These video segments are integrated with the Panorama sections of the student text. The authentic footage takes viewers to the featured Spanish-speaking countries, focusing on varied aspects of "c" and "C" culture. The images were selected for interest level and visual appeal, and the Spanish narrations were written to reflect the vocabulary and grammar covered in the text.

As students watch the video segments, they will encounter a diversity of images and topics: cities, monuments, traditions, festivals, archeological sites, geographical wonders, and more. They will be transported to each Spanish-speaking country, including the United States and Canada, thereby having the opportunity to expand their cultural perspectives with information directly related to the content of the textbook.
